FachPack 2016: Positive discussions and quality enquiries

Following FachPack 2016 in Nuremberg (Germany), SONOTRONIC can report positive results: although the number of visitors to the fair fell back slightly overall, enquiries from trade visitors to SONOTRONIC were of exceptionally high quality.

Apart from film applications, visitors were increasingly enquiring about textiles that can be sealed by ultrasound. Potential compound welds of textile and film, for example for filters, were high on the list. In addition, there was also considerable interest in complete roll-seam welding modules for packaging machines. The team around sales manager, Jürgen Wolf, was able to demonstrate on the spot that, as market leader in the field of special ultrasonic machines and components, SONOTRONIC can meet the requirements of customers and is well positioned to face future challenges. Not only national but also international trade representatives from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were present at FachPack. Some potential customers had even come from Italy.

The many years of demonstrating to the public how ultrasound works and where it can be profitably used in the packaging industry are now bearing fruit. “Customers know how to appreciate the advantages of this technology. They approach us with more targeted enquiries and actual projects”, says sales manager, Jürgen Wolf.

FachPack has shown that ultrasound is continuing to grow in the bagging sector. According to Wolf, there has up to now, been no comparable system, which expels the filling material from the weld area, thereby guaranteeing a 100% seal for films wetted with product.

Even in medical engineering, where ultrasound has not really arrived, interest is growing in this technology. Drug packs, particularly blister packs, can of course, also be heat sealed. “However, this industry does not tolerate any errors”, explains Wolf. The welding processes using ultrasound can be virtually monitored online. Thanks to this direct monitoring facility, faulty batches can be immediately detected and destroyed.
